Weather can be fun!

I am not sure whether you have heard about the upside down rainbow that was spotted somewhere near Cambridge this week. I have found online this picture of a similar rainbow photographed by Bernt Rostad in Norway and posted on Flickr. I know, so everyone has been singing somewhere “under” the rainbow this week. Quite funny really.

Bernt says on Flickr: “The circumzenithal arc is the most beautiful of all the halos. The first sighting is always a surprise, an ethereal rainbow fled from its watery origins and wrapped improbably about the zenith. It is often described as an "upside down rainbow". Someone also charmingly likened it to "a grin in the sky".

Look straight up near to the zenith when the sun if fairly low and especially if sundogs are visible. The centre of the bow always sunwards and red is on the outside. It is never a complete circle around the zenith, that is the extremely rare and never photographed "Kern arc". ”

Very interesting, I think Bernt writes very well!

This shows us how much fun nature can have with the weather. So that hasd lead to me thinking about human weather related items that are fun.

Everyone has seen funny umbrellas before and printed wellies have been the hit this summer. Here are some of my favourites of things that make the weather more fun than it was without them. Especially in autumn the winds pick up and so you and your family can go out and fly a kite either somewhere in the countryside or in the park!
